About

My goal is to teach the new generation about the art of music and give them the hope and dreams to pursue music as a career. I strive to teach the fundamental basics of the instrument and theory while also building up creativity and feeling while playing.

I am a new teacher with 6 years experience, being a tutor at my Highschool and first guitar in my quartet for 4 years. Currently enrolled at New Jersey City University for my Music Education degree.

more information can be found on my Instagram @maikeruguitar

I enjoy meeting new students and guiding them to become the best they can with the instrument. I enjoy teaching and passing on the knowledge I know so they have the ability to grow and become great

I just remember always watching Mike breeze through scales or twist his fingers into these beautiful chords. And automatically I was jealous but he took it really slow and would show me different ways to finger certain chords or phrases so it would be easier to connect different musical ideas to one another he broke me out of linear scale thinking and allowed me to think of scales and chords as colors on a pallet each serving different purposes to create a feeling or picture.

    Frequently asked questions

For new students I try gain an understanding of their character to revolve a teaching method that works best for them. I try to get them as comfortable with the guitar until it's natural. Lessons are more classical oriented however I use modern music to peak the interest in my students to show the practicality of classical. Everyday will be a new thing and they will always be improving day by day
