Do what you love, and you'll never work another day in your life. My mentor, Mr. Eugene DeBellis was an excellent example. The main thing I emphasize is to enjoy the guitar. Of course, like anything in life, you get out what you put in. I'm a rhythm guitarist, in short I'm not trying to be the star, I'm the one the star calls. I stand out because at jam sessions, the lead guitarists/frontman argue over which of them will have me playing with them. In my session/studio work, I have a reputation for having my tracks done in one take. Or, on the other extreme (which is rare) I'll do as many takes as necessary to get it right. That meaning the producer is satisfied but I'm not.

Satisfying my students, producers, band leaders, and the patrons and management of the venues where I have my performances. The most satisfying day is not lounging around, but where you have everything to do and you get it done.
