Paul Meyers here, I'm a jazz guitarist, both a performer and teacher ( at William Patterson University and New Jersey City University ) for many years. I have recorded and toured world-wide with my own groups and with name jazz artists. Please take a look at my website for more info - www.paulmeyers.info
My goal it to see the "light bulb go off" when a student graspsa concept that allows them to conncet to the music they want to play and understand in a deeper way. That's what it's all about, and I do think that after many years i=of teaching I am able to do this with my students successfully. It's always great to see...
Studying with Paul Meyers, I learned almost every kind of approach to play jazz guitar with his very well-organized curriculum. He always catches what you need to focus on more, and gives the most helpful practicing tools. Especially, his solo guitar is really amazing and he will teach everything of his ideas if you just ask him.
I have been studying with Paul for 2 years and find each lesson exciting, within reach, and productive. Paul has a knack for clear explanation and demonstrates everything we cover adding additional examples for context. His knowledge of jazz is extensive professionally and historically and adds a perspective that helps make the music come alive. Paul is always ready to challenge any new skills I learn and creates an interactive performance dialogue, playing any and all parts of the music while I work through ideas and technique. Paul regularly invites students to attend his performances in a number of musical contexts as a leader and always with a unique and imaginative approach to improvisation. Paul is one of my favorite musicians whether performing straight ahead jazz, older traditional styles, Brazilian, or original solo material.
Paul Meyers was my guitar and jazz improvisation teacher for 3 years. Paul was the best teacher I could ask for. During this 3 years he directed my studies progressively and in a well structured manner, taking things one step at the time. He is a world class jazz musician with full command of the instrument and the jazz language. Paul is a fantastic and patient teacher and has a great personality, very easy to get along.
I have studied with Paul for 3 years and he always gave me a new way of looking at the music. By looking at music from many different perspectives helped me to internalize it and create a personal connection. I highly recommend Paul as a teacher to all players who want to take their playing to a new level.
