30+ years of being a professional in teaching music to children and adults. My studio had climbed to 50 students studying piano, all orchestral instruments, conducting and voice. Public and private school music teaching as well as a performer and soloist.
Seeing students get excited with their accomplishments as well as looking forward to their lesson time with me. Each person is unique and move musically in different directions with differing interests. I move with them satisfying their needs and their interests.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I need to know what your interests are and what you want to do with your learning to play a musical instrument. So talking and sharing will be important initially. Then I'll want to get you playing quickly. I'll be able to understand your learning style and we'll move in that direction.

How did you get started teaching?
My love for music and experiencing the joy that music brought to other people. I've been a teacher as long as I can remember.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've working with kids as young as 5 yrs old and as old as 75 and everyone in between. Male and female. People from very influential communities and those from the poorest communities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently spent 2 wks in Japan working with and performing with brilliant children that play brass instruments. They were not only stunning musicians but disciplined to the point that all of their music was memorized.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You need to feel comfortable with your teacher not being afraid to express your challenges. Find someone that loves what they're doing with teaching and listens to you.
