About

Whether you want to rip solos as a lead guitarist, fingerpick and accompany your own songs, sharpen your piano chops, or build solid music theory foundations from scratch, every lesson is individually tailored to help you reach your goals.

Gabriel has been teaching music for over 15 years—both privately and in schools across NYC. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in Music and Contemporary Guitar from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. As an active composer and producer, his work has been featured in major film and television projects, including "And Just Like That…" (Seasons 1–3), "Sweet Tooth" (2021), "Marry Me" (2022), and "The Infiltrators" (2020).

Learning from a active working musician means gaining real-world skills, industry insight, and practical technique beyond basic mechanics. Gabriel's core curriculum covers everything from absolute fundamentals to advanced specialization, customized entirely around your musical interests—because no song or goal is out of reach. The first step to learning is curiosity!

We’ve been doing lessons for about six months now and it’s been fantastic. Really flexible with learning styles, super encouraging, and keeps things engaging without feeling overly strict. Seeing my son actually enjoy practicing on his own has been the best part. 10/10

My son, who is a beginner guitar player has been truly happy with Gabe as his teacher. He finds him to be kind and encouraging, while being fun and knowledgeable with whatever question he has for Gabe. We are very pleased with him as his guitar teacher. We find he really cares about his students and their self esteem and teaches accordingly.

Gabe has taught my daughter piano for more than two years. He is patient, kind, and a skilled musician and teacher. A few things that are really important to me as parent (and an educator)-- he really seems interested in her learning process. He keeps her engaged with teaching songs she wants to learn; he incorporates activities that help her grow her skills (reading music, rhythm); his kindness plus his love of music makes my daughter totally engaged.
Gabe is great in person and on-line. I recommend him highly!

Gabriel is a most gifted and phenomenal teacher. More than his extraordinary skill is his patience, encouragement and support of our children which has made learning the most rewarding experience. Our children study guitar, piano and production with Gabriel and we feel so fortunate that Gabriel is teaching and in our lives.

Really easy to learn from. Lays everything out very clearly and he customizes each lesson to the student. My daughter was engaged and came away a seriously improved musician after just a few months.

Gabe is awesome. He’s helped me (47 year old dad) make meaningful improvements in my ability at a time when I felt like I was plateauing. He also worked with my two daughters (age 15 and 10) and made learning guitar and ukulele fun. He’s got a warm, infectiously positive spirit and a love for music that’s contagious. He’s flexible and easy to work with, and has become a friend to my entire family. Strong STRONG recommend!!!

Frequently asked questions

A new student will come in and elaborate on their musical interests and goals. We'll create a curriculum that centers your objectives and blend core skills with customized classes that dissect and break into skill sets (ear training, sight reading, tabs ) and learn your favorite songs right away. These lessons are designed to be fun and engaging and also challenging. You will learn what is happening behind the notes (music theory) as well as any song/material you would like to work on. These lessons are 100% about you and your musical objectives.

I have been teaching guitar for over fifteen years to all different age groups and skill levels. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in composition, media writing & production, contemporary guitar and American song writing from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. I Have taught at the Calhoun School and ComeJoinTheBand in New York City and have shifted focus to private lessons and media writing for Film and TV.

I've always been a dedicated guitar player and eventually began teaching when friends would come up to me asking for private lessons. I found explaining concepts and songs to them to be really rewarding and seeing a student improve inspired me to start teaching professionally.

I work with students 4-65+, some have been very advanced, and others complete beginners. I work with all styles of music and each student has improved greatly in the direction that they aspire to grow.

I have had my original songs and compositions featured on TV and in Film https://m.imdb.com/name/nm4780039/

I also run music production house entitled PMGRNT Productions LLC where I compose, arrange and record.https://pmgrntproductions.com/

My original music can be found under PMGRNT and Gabriel Berenbaum on all streaming platforms as well as in all of the media projects found on my IMDb.

Find a teacher who suites your needs. Look for a consumate professional with a broad knowledge of music and various genres.

What do I want to learn? As a student you'll want to set your own personal musical goals. Ask yourself Who are your favorite musicians? Where skills do you want to work on?

Will my teacher inspire me? Will they keep it interesting and challenging for me? How do I get to my goal? Will this instructor help me get there? Know what your inclinations will be and work to achieve your goals.
