About this pro

Music is therapy, and what better way to express how we are feeling by using our voices? I have had the privilege to work with voice types ages 5 through 52, beginner to advanced, and have experience coaching multiple genres (my specialties are contemporary styles including pop, rock, and musical theater). I have been teaching voice for about 2 years now, and I have been performing in professional settings including theaters, churches, wedding bands, concert halls, and dueling piano bars for about 6 years, and have had the privilege to perform in seven states. I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music 2019 with Songwriting and Music Education Double Degree, and I also minored in Musical Theater Writing. I have had the privilege to also honor Alex Lacamoire by singing lead Waving Through a Window for his honorary doctorate concert, and have performed for 5 years with Howl at the Moon Dueling Piano Bars (primarily in Boston, MA).

I would LOVE to work you, whether you are a beginning voice or piano student, or if you wrote a cool song and want someone to help bounce ideas, or if you are nervous for that audition coming up! I will listen with an open ear and coach you with helpful, constructive feedback. I'm so excited to work with you!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Generally I follow similar guidelines regardless of the instrument, but for the sake of clarity in the exercise, let's pretend this is a voice student.

First we have a 'check in' (we will have one every lesson), and I will get to know you with some key questions to get a better understanding of what you may or may not already know about your instrument. We will talk about your favorite artists, and your goals as a vocalist.

Following introductions, we will do a physical stretch, and I will teach you the stretches that I do every day in order to keep my voice limber and elastic, as well as loose and relaxed. You need to exercise before singing, it's good to get blood to flow to your vocal chords!

We would then move onto a few breath exercises, and identify the mechanics of how we breathe. This will flow into the mechanics of how the voice works. Afterwards, we will try to 'find' each voice placement (everyone has 3). Once we feel comfortable identifying our voice placements, we will start some vocal exercises. I have you read a sentence, and I will identify where your voice harmonically sits naturally, and begin teaching warms ups/scales to you to work on at home. I will send recordings of these warm ups to you upon request!

Then for homework, we BOTH will come up with 3 songs we want your voice to work on! Typically, I would suggest 30 min for a first lesson, but I don't mind taking the full hour either!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have taken voice training for over 9 years, have graduated Berklee College of Music with a Music Education and Songwriting Double Degree, I have performed professionally with Howl At The Moon, at Symphony Hall, and with wedding bands. I recently debuted in a musical theater show Off-Broadway in New York City 'The Circle of Eyes'. I have also been playing piano for over 13 years!

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Typically, I have been paid at a rate of 65 per hour, however for private practice I take 10 off and charge 55. My rates are 35 for 30 MIN, 45 for 45MIN and 55 for 60MIN.
