About

Hello my name is Evan Van Hoosier. I am a Vegas local who attended Green Valley High School and The College of Southern Nevada where I was drafted by the Texas Rangers and played 5 years professionally(2013-2018). Player development has always been a passion of mine. My main focus is to find ways to maximize the players potential while respecting the game, learning to accept failure, ways of learning to accept that failure while being classy, and gracious on and off the field. I cover hitting, defense, situations, base running and high baseball IQ as it is a very mental game.

Evan is a great baseball coach! After bringing my 10-year-old to him I saw much improvement after a few weeks. Evan is very patient but also provided a lot of critiques that helped my child a lot. I truly appreciate his willingness to help my son and will continue to use him in the future.

My son has been working with Coach Evan for a couple of months now and my son has grown as a player because of this man’s one on one attention. The knowledge and patience this man carries into his lessons is worth every penny. From techniques and fundamentals to drills and talking/practicing out real game scenarios, Evan is the complete package in taking your little one a step or two higher. Contacting Coach Evan and working with him most definitely improved my child’s understanding of the game and improved his overall skills. Having him as a Coach also came with an unexpected bonus, my child is more confident in his games and practices with his team because he KNOWS he is improving. Super thankful we came across him.

Coach Evan is an amazing coach. He takes the time to work with my son at his pace and ensure that he understands. Coach Evan is patient and gives feedback during and after every workout session. My son will continue to work with coach Evan from this point forward.

    Frequently asked questions

Depends on age and talent. Evaluation with video.  Start with basic fundamentals. Throwing, catch play,Hands and glove routine, proper rythym and footwork, basic ground balls. Tee series, front toss and over hand batting practice with footwork and agilities at the end. Can work with pitchers and catchers as well. I like to slow things down to make sure they under stand. The student should never be afraid to ask questions.

I played baseball since I was 7. Played professional baseball as a utility infielder/outfielder for the Texas Rangers for 5 years and experienced many ups and downs where I gained  so much knowledge on the mental side  of the game.

I charge 80 dollars for an hour and 40 for a 30 minute session. I have the netting, baseballs and everything needed to meet at a field most convenient for you.

Friends reached out to me about coaching a youth team and haven't looked back.

All age groups. From 6-18 years old.

Hitting a grand slam off Luis Severino in 2014 south Atlantic league with my family in the crowd.

Figure out your strengths and weakneses and come up with goals. Short and long term. Be open minded willing and be willing to learn new things as not every player is the same. Most of all, learn to accept failure.

Is this something you really want to do? Everything must be done with a purpose. Are you passionate about the hame?  Are you willing to do what others are not doing, in order to succeed?
