About this pro

I'm a professional jazz guitarist and educator located in Brooklyn, NY. I've had the good fortune to perform and record with jazz greats including Kenny Barron, Barry Harris, Junior Cook, Vernel Fournier, Matt Wilson, and many others. I've performed at the Blue Note, Birdland, Carnegie Hall. East Coast Jazz Festival, Tri-C JazzFest, Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, and other major venues and festivals, we currently appear regularly in NYC at the Garage Restaurant and the Bar Next Door at La Lanterna. I also perform regularly with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks and others.I've been teaching music since 1977 when I created the guitar component for the Parma Community Arts Program. Since then I've taught privately and at a number of colleges including Pace University, City College, Hunter College, and Hofstra University (where I've been an Adjunct Professor since 1995). I've also taught the Advanced Guitar Class at the Jazzmobile Saturday Workshop Program, written for Just Jazz Guitar magazine and contributed to several Mel Bay jazz guitar books. My specialty is jazz guitar and I teach from a perspective of learning the repertoire and language of the music with an emphasis on ear-training, theory, technique and fundamentals. I've played guitar for over 50 years and have seen many of the pitfalls and traps that one can experience when learning this instrument. My goal as an educator is to speed your development and enhance your enjoyment of music by avoiding all those "dead ends" (which are all too common). I love music and the guitar, and most importantly, I love teaching it to others!Degrees: Associate of Arts, Cuyahoga Community College 1977 Bachelor of Music, Berklee College of Music 1980 Master of Arts, Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College 1991
