Elaine has taught at New York City Public Schools and La Guardia College, studied Music Performance at CW Post College, Greenvale Long Island as well as at Touro College for a Master’s degree for Special Education. Elaine has been teaching privately for twenty five years of piano, guitar and vocal lessons children and adults from age 4 and up. Elaine believes in inspiring and motivation of her student’s creativity to train them to be true to their instrument. Elaine teaches all styles of music, Pop, Country and Jazz music.. Elaine Akins believes in teaching all students Music Theory, Ear Training and Performance, as well as the instrument of his/her choosing – MUSIC to all ages, young and old.

I started teaching music as soon as I graduated college with a BS in Applied Music.
