Elaine (Mary) Akins is a Graduate of CUNY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Music, Elaine is a professional Pianist, Vocalist, Guitarist Music Teacher as well as a Songwriter and Performer. Elaine has taught at New York City Public Schools and La Guardia College, studied Music Performance at CW Post College, Greenvale Long Island as well as at Touro College for a Master’s degree for Special Education. Elaine has been teaching privately for twenty five years of piano, guitar and vocal lessons children and adults from age 4 and up. Elaine believes in inspiring and motivation of her student’s creativity to train them to be true to their instrument. Elaine teaches all styles of music, Pop, Country and Jazz music.. Elaine is well educated, she actively works in the music business as a performer for community and hotel events, as well as a promoter of musicians in the music industry. Elaine Akins believes in teaching all students Music Theory, Ear Training and Performance, as well as the instrument of his/her choosing – MUSIC to all ages, young and old.
I grew up with music and learned about music when I was very young.

I try my best to find out what music makes them happy and work on obtaining it for them.

I charge $60 an hour and if I have to travel $70 per hour.

I started teaching music as soon as I graduated college with a BS in Applied Music.

I performed with a band to honor 9/11/02 tragedy.
