Hi! My name is Brittany Harris and I am a professional Cellist having play with the Manhattan Symphonie, was Princial Cellist of the Litha Symphony and have performed with various artists. I hold two Bachelors in Music Education and Music Performance and I teach regularly in the Brooklyln Public Schools.
I've been studying, teaching, playing music for 20 years. I LOVE music. It is truly my passion. Even more? I love TEACHING music. I'm a fun loving teacher and I enjoy laughing and creating an environment that produces a love of learning. It is my goal to give everyone a chance to learn a musical instrument, it is truly a wonderful gift and everyone should get the opportunity to enjoy and learn no matter waht age! I teach all ages! What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always start with posture. This is the most essential basic skill that needs to be develop in order to master any instrument! I explain how to sit and hold the instrument properly, Form the hands.
Next we go over the parts of the instrument as we sit practicing good posture.
Then we go over strings, (keys) I practice developing the ear with echoe patterns. By the end of the lesson we should know Open strings and maybe even a scale.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 Years experience teaching/Playing/ performing music. Two bachelors in Music Education, Music Performance.
