Dan Ricker Piano Lessons

Hey there! I'm Dan Ricker, piano and band teacher. I'm a very enthusiastic teacher and I hope you'll consider me for lessons!

I've been teaching music professionally since 2011, but have taught in various fields in the arts and education since I was 15. On most weekends I teach at the prestigious Count Basie Theater, working with kids 8-18 to prepare for massive rock concerts that have featured special guests like Bruce Springsteen guitarist Steven Van Zandt, legendary drummer Carmine Appice, and Jon Bon Jovi guitarist Bobby Bandiera. I'm also an accomplished singer/songwriter and professionally produce rock, pop, and dance music.

If you or your child is interested in private lessons on the keys, my approach is very rock/pop oriented. You will learn many aspects of music theory, composition, and arrangement. You'll also learn scales, and be able to use them in a process that will open your mind to soloing, jazz improvisation, and creative composing. I'm also very flexible with what students want to learn, and will let them steer the curriculum as long as their enthusiasm matches mine.
