Zydae is very patient and very knowledgeable. I am an adult student and Zydae has trained me on the violin and piano. She even introduced me to an app to use when practicing outside of my lessons. She also recorded my playing to show me my progress in improving. I love her teaching style. She truly cares about me as her student. When she relocated to NYC, that was bittersweet and I miss having my lessons from her. Do you know that she left some notes on me for my next private lesson teacher? That's the type of personality you would be dealing with. Thank you Zydae for assisting me to excel in piano and violin. I hope your business continues to grow in NYC!

She is very patient with my child who likes to give her teachers a hard time sometimes. My daughter is very energetic and likes to play around and I’m grateful that Ms. Zydae has learned to work with daughter rather than punish or reprimand. She is still a favorite teacher of ours and my daughter is progressing in her music studies.

$75 for 60 minutes

How did you get started teaching?

I started by working for my church's summer music camp each summer during college. I taught private Brass lessons as well as full brass ensembles. During the year I did a teaching internship each semester as part of my education classes and we also frequently taught our peers in class.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Do not be shy. You have to communicate with your teacher to let them know what works for you in the lessons and what doesn't work. If you like to choose your own songs - tell them. If you don't like to choose your own songs - tell them. Teachers have many different students with different needs and attitudes. It is helpful if you tell us what we are doing that helps or hinders you.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Are you currently in an ensemble and do you want to join an ensemble?

Are you willing to practice at home each day and each week? It is just as important as doing your homework. Without practice, you will not progress as quickly as you are capable of and each lesson will be spent backtracking.
