Musicolor Method NYC
About
Musicolor Method NYC, based in Brooklyn, NY, provides in-home private music lessons across Brooklyn and Manhattan. Founded in 2007 by educator and author Andrew Ingkavet, the school is the original home of the Musicolor Method, a color-coded, child-centered approach that helps beginners play first and transition to standard notation over time. Background-checked teachers tailor instruction for children, including early learners and students with ADHD, ASD, and other special needs, as well as teens and adults.
Lessons are offered for piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, violin, viola, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn, and tuba, plus songwriting. Early Childhood: Musicolor Early Foundations serves ages 2–4 through story, rhythm, and movement. Scheduling prioritizes children in after-school hours; adult lessons are available mornings and late evenings.
The program serves neighborhoods including Park Slope, Williamsburg, Crown Heights, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, and Manhattan areas such as the Upper West Side, Tribeca, Columbus Circle, and Battery Park City. Formerly known as Park Slope Music Lessons, Musicolor Method NYC has grown into a team of about 20 instructors and has taught thousands of students over more than 19 years. A scholarship program helps expand access to music education. Musicolor Method NYC is family- and minority-owned.
