Piano Lessons For Everyone
About
I love music and I love teaching. My web site is www.beand.com and I am on Facebook as Beth Anderson-Harold in Brooklyn, NY and on LinkedIn. My students do two recitals a year, if they are willing. I try to find music my students enjoy and sometimes compose pieces for them. I teach in my home and do not travel to students' homes.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask the student what they would like to learn and if they have an idea, I find appropriate music for them. If they are beginners, I use one of the beginner series of books until about level three and then move into classical repertoire, Bach and Schumann, for example. Otherwise, I try to find rags or boogie or hymns or whatever the student prefers. I teach scales and chords to everyone and music theory is a part of most lessons. I encourage students to improvise and compose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MFA in Piano Performance and an MA in Composition from Mills College in Oakland, CA, as well as teaching certificates for New York and Kentucky.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
i charge $40 for half hour lessons,
$60 for 45 minute lessons,
and $80 for hour lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was fourteen one of my mother's friends asked me to teach her daughter. When I was in college I taught non majors and pre college division students. Then for years I improvised for modern dancers in NYC. Since 2007 I have been teaching at home and really enjoying it.
What types of students have you worked with?
young, old, some with learning or concentration issues, retirees who are returning to piano after many years...
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
find someone who lives near you so you can make each lesson easily.
