About this pro

I am a professional musician with over 20 years of experience. I received my Bachelors in Music Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and have maintained a number of students over the past several years. I have studied a number of styles and play a wide range of music. This includes but is not limited to Classical, Jazz, Chamber, Folk, Modern, Hip Hop, Marching etc. I am able to offer coaching for students of any level whether they are just starting out or getting ready for a major audition.

My favorite part about playing the trumpet is the endless opportunities it has given me. I get to play in a wide range of ensembles and situation as well as travel the world doing so. My career has allowed my life to be full and enjoyable.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Every student learns in different ways and the same approach doesn't always work for everyone. My goal is to make sure that the learning process is a positve and exciting one. I find a way to make learning the trumpet an exciting experience so that they will continue to want to improve and grow as a musician.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

For the past 20 years I have studied under some of the finest trumpet and music instructors at some of the most recognized music insitutions in the country. In addition to spending my school years at these insitutions, I spent each summer studying my craft at a number of well respected summer programs. These institutions include Orange County High School of the Arts, Interlochen Arts Academy, Oberlin Conservatory, Idyllwild Arts Summer program, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Atlantic Brass Quintet Seminar and more.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My standard rate is $45 for half an hour and $60 for an hour.

How did you get started teaching?

I first started teaching when I was in High School in which I had a small studio of several students who were mostly beginners in Elementary and Middle School. Throughout college and my professional career I have maintained a small amount of private students.

What types of students have you worked with?

Most of my experience is with young beginners but I am willing and able to asist any age and any level of player.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

In a city like New York, there are hundreds of qualified teacher looking for students. I think it's important to find a teacher that you truly connect with and feel comfortable with. Having a positve relationship with your teacher is the best way to progress and succeed.
