Thanks for your consideration!

I think teaching music and playing violin is very rewarding as achieving these hard tasks can carry anyone to fulfill their life the way they see it. For young students, it teaches the discipline of hard work and patience for getting it right. And for adult student, it can be a fulfilling their curiousity that keep one's mind young and active while making music itself is enjoyable experience. My whole family are professors, scientists and teachers and i see teaching as one of my true callings.

Michelle is a great teacher. She is patient and encouraging and is able to explain all aspects of technique and has a keen eye for subtle changes that will help my playing. She teaches methods of practice that have helped me practice better. I have really enjoyed my virtual lessons with Michelle.

Amazingly, having virtual lessons with Michelle is very similar to having them in person. Good sound, excellent reception with minimal transmission delay, and flexible appointment times no matter where we are located. Payment is simple with Cash App. And, Michelle emails lesson notes afterwards. Best of all, I can continue my lessons through COVID-19 and support a marvelous artist.

    Frequently asked questions

The first lesson is usually to determin our short and long term goals. The short term goals are weekly ones and the long term goals are monthly ones.
I also often go back to fundamental techniques to make your foundation at check. I have unique system to attack each and every techniques, vibrato and articulations.
Students are welcome to bring their desired music to learn while i will be providing most of the other music.

I have my Doctor of Music degree to improve learning violin experience for everyone. I am aware of Suzuki method but not exclusively. I have my own scale and warm up system and that works well to prep students. I use Belgian-franco bow grip (like the most people), not the Russian grip.

Right now, my standard pricing is $60/hour for virtual lessons and $100/hour in person. However, i am willing to work with students' need when it comes to the lessons fee.

I've been teaching for a very long time and it sure is a challenging and unique experience. Teaching makes me a better performer and better communicator. I started teaching because I didn't have a good teacher and i wanted to be there for the students who seek for help.

Wide range of ages and level of playing. I taught at Indiana University as an associate instructor for three years, mostly teaching undergraduate and graduate students. I also spent two years teaching at a school district: age between 8 - 14. Recently i have been working with adult students up to age 82. I think of my teaching is relatable for all level and age groups.

Finding a good teacher is very difficult. I really struggled with finding a good teacher when i started. If you are not happy with the instruction and don't feel like you are getting the best opportunity, please don't stop looking for the right teacher.

I'd love to hear about students' goals. I know sometimes it's not relevant but it's certainly good to think about. Also think about how dedicate are you? How willing to learn? How passionate about music?
