About

Hello there! I have been currently teaching music lessons for 9 years. I teach Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, and Ukulele. I have experience with all ages and skill levels! If you are a student starting music in school, looking for NYSSMA prep, or an adult looking to finally start learning that instrument you’ve always wanted to try, please consider joining my studio! I have my Associates Degree from Suffolk County Community College, and am currently studying at Brooklyn College for Music Education and Violin Studies. I like to make music fun and interesting! I have my own system I follow, but ultimately it’s your lesson! I like to be as versatile as I can be and help my students explore any avenues of music

Rachel was my first private teacher, instructing me when I was a Freshman in high school. While both inspiring and motivating, Rachel is truly an amazing teacher. Whomever takes violin lessons with her will come out both a better musician, and a better person. Whether a novice or a professional, Rachel can work and adapt to all students of all creeds and skill levels. It is truly an honor to call myself a product of Rechels.

    Frequently asked questions

For our first lesson, we typically spend most of the time getting to know our student. Who they are, what their goals are, and where they are musically is all very important in our assessment of each student so that we can give the right amount of attention to the right areas. If they've never played before though, we will usually start by teaching them the very basics, and we'll also make sure they have the proper items to start playing; correct instrument size, bow, rosin, shoulder rest, etc.

I have been playing the violin for 14 years now. I also have been playing viola for around 8 years, and cello for 4 years as well. In that time I have been teaching private lessons, substituting for other colleagues as well, playing in orchestras, quartets, duos, and other ensembles. I have also played at many weddings, galas, fundraisers, and more with my quartet. I have an Associates Degree in music from Suffolk County Community College where she learned music theory, ear training, music history, and even piano to a very high level. Now I am enrolled in the Music Education program at Brooklyn College learning everything I need to know to be a school teacher

Typically we charge $25 for a half hour lesson or $50 for an hour. That price can be negotiable depending on circumstances. We understnad that lessons can be a big investment, so if there's any trouble with the payment, we are very willing to work something out. The most important thing to us is spreading our knowledge of music. That comes first.

When I was a senior in high school, my orchestra teacher pulled me aside one day and asked me if I would be interested in giving private lessons to some of his middle school students. I kind of just fell in love with it and decided that was what I wanted to do!

I have worked with maybe types of students. Young kids, big kids, adults, grandparents, total beginners, experts, you name it

This year my string quartet got to perform for some nursing homes in the community and it was really heartwarming to get to visit them and play for them! They seemed to really appreciate us being there and I couldn't have been more excited that we had gone
