About
My name is Flavia Darcie, a Brazilian musician based in NYC.
Music has been part of my life since I was 9 years old and my curiosity for many art forms led me to explore classical piano, conducting, acting and voice.
Studying music is about understanding your body and allowing yourself to tap into your feelings. Wether you choose to do that through your voice or through an instrument, the process will be really similar. I will help you explore, find and unluck your own ''voice'', your own musicality, and together we will build a safe enviroment where risks can be taken.
I started my musical path as a classical pianist, but in college, willing to understand more about all instruments and how they "talk" to each other, I studied Choir and Orchestral Conducting.
Still trying to find more ways to tell stories, I started learning singing, which brought me to NYC for a Masters in Classical Vocal Performance at New York University.
My background in all these music fields and also my passion for acting have given me the ability to share with my students a broader knowledge, enabling them to apprectiate art and life in a more complete way.
Lessons can be taught in English or Portuguese. My Spanish comprehension level is high.
There is nothing more gratifying than seeing my student's growth and enthusiasm when they find out they are also capable of creating beautiful and meaningful sounds.
As a student of music myself I know how pleasant it is to see your own improvement and to start believing more and more in yourself, not only as an artist, but specially as a person, in all areas of life.
