Lessons With Lucas
About
I have 11 years of music experience and 6 years of performing experience on both piano and trumpet. My specialties are in Jazz/lead and Classical Trumpet but I have also taught beginning/moderate level Jazz and Classical Piano lessons. As a musician, I have been playee lead and solo trumpet in the Ohio State University Jazz Ensemble for the last 4 years and have competed in numerous classical solo competitions as well. I am currently a Jazz performance Masters student at Michigan State as well as a teaching assistant in the jazz department.
I've been playing music for around 10 years now and I enjoy really just because it's fun. There's not a feeling I've experienced that can top playing for an engaged audience that leaves a show feeling better than they did when they walked in the door.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always start with the fundamentals by introducing scale excercises and basic technique books to get a good foundation in both technical ability and music theory knowledge.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently a third year Jazz Performance major at Ohio State and have been playing music professionally while in school for the last three years. I have also given lessons on both trumpet and piano in the past.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I always charge $20 for a half hour and $40 for an hour. If you're interested in lessons longer than and hour, just add $20 per half hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching a few students my first year of college that were all students at my former middle and high schools.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with middle and high school students that had varying levels of experience. I'm very willing to work with both beginning piano and trumpet students as well as advanced trumpet students.
