Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

With a new student, first I teach them how to hold the guitar & the guitar pick. Then I teach the beginning student some basic notation such as tablature to learn some basic melodies and/or chords. The new student would take home the material to work on and we would follow-up by correcting the problems that the student might have in the next lesson.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

A typical lesson with me evolves learning material, such as songs & exercises, then the student would go home to practice the lesson material. The following week the student would play the material from the previous lesson & I would help with whatever problems the student had & assign new material to help with those problems. So the lessons from week to week are customized to help the student to progress in their guitar studies.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

My ideal guitar student is someone who is willing to work on the material from lesson to lesson by practicing the material assigned in each lesson. Open communication with me is also very important. There are no stupid questions in my lesson room!
