Walch Music Lessons
About
Lessons in my studio or online! Competitive rates, sibling discounts, and flexible scheduling! Students of all ages and abilities welcome!
What I love most about private lessons is that I have the flexibility to allow each student to move at his or her own pace. I can tailor my teaching methods and assignments to meet the individual needs of each student, to ensure that he or she is performing to his or her maximum potential. I encourage open communication between myself, the student, and the parent(s), so that we can all work together to make the musical experience as fun and exciting as possible!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process varies depending on the student's previous experience.
If the student has never studied music before, I start by introducing him or her to the instrument, basic music symbols, and common terminology. This requires me to do a little more talking than I usually prefer to do, but it is necessary to ensure a strong foundation. My goal is to get the student playing at least one note correctly by the end of the first lesson.
If the student has studied music in the past, whether with another private teacher or in a group setting, I will begin by having the student play something he or she knows well. This allows me to assess the student's technique and level. I will then select studies and repertoire based on this assessment.
