REAL FUNdamentals Of Music System - Lessons Customized To Each Student
About
I offer the highest quality music lessons at the most affordable price can and I have had great success teaching all students from youth to adult with over 3,000 lessons taught. REAL FUNdamentals of Music is my unique teaching method and system that is customized to each student's needs. The method emphasizes: 1) building strong instrumental skill sets and fundamentals through active playing instruction, 2) building short-term to long-term lesson plans and skill sets, and 3) delivering each lesson agenda that is tailored to each student's pace, goals and interests in songs, artists and genres, all in a way that makes learning and lessons FUN and no pressure experience. With private lessons in your own home, online or in fully equipped stores/studios, REAL FUN Music will bring the enjoyment of music into your life. Recommended books, songs, charts, media resources and other instructional materials are also tailored to each student. My background also includes instruction with a national rock music camp, clinics and groups.
In addition to sharing the enjoyment of music, I enjoy the teaching process and working with students at their own pace and hearing/seeing them develop their abilities and skills and progress on their instrument. It's great to see a student have fun and see their 'light go on' when they have learned how to play a favorite song, taken the next step with a specific exercise technique or skill set and/or achieved longer term goals. I have had many students go from beginnner to expert. I believe learning and teaching music makes a positive difference in the life of all students no matter what the pace or goals are.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I use a 10 lesson start-up plan. The first lesson is an evaluation where I get to know each students interests, level of ability and if they have a previous musical background. I also try to underdstand if the student has specific goals and objectives to achieve from lessons. Are they learning for fun and enjoyment, playing in a group/ensemble or in the school band etc... My goal is to get the student playing as soon as possible without getting too bogged down in reading or theory at first. I then recommend a course of instruction and outline of lessons and develoment customized to each student. This ties in short-term lessons plans with long-term goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Studied formally at Badlwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music. Formal study from grades 3-12 at Orange Community School District in concert band and marching band. Section leader of band grades 11 & 12. Section leader of Chagrin Valley Festival Orchestra grade 12. Formal study and lessons with private teachers from grades 6 through 11.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing structure begins with a new student discount. New students receive 4 lessons for the price of 3 (1 free lesson). Hourly rates are $15 for 30 minutes plus, $25 for 45 minutes plus and $30 for 60 minutes plus.
How did you get started teaching?
After many years of experience as a musician I began working in the pro audio and instrumental departments at Sam Ash Music Stores. Through contacts at Sam Ash I began teaching private lessons in 2005 on guitars, drums and piano with the a school called the Johnston Academy of Music. That experience lead to a position as a group instructor and instrumental instructor at CAMP JAM, a national music school serving youth in grades 6 through 12. Since then I continued building a clientele of youth and adult students in NE Ohio through local music schools and through referrals from many satifisied students and families.
