About

Yoga made an appearance in my life just 3 short years ago. Being an avid runner, I had heard yoga could play a huge part in a runners form, mental control, breathing, flexibility and balance. Over these last few years I discovered that it's all much more than that. While my practice has helped me grow stronger and more flexible, it has taught me a lesson of mindfulness and gratitude. Yoga inspires me to shine from the heart and open up my soul, to be my most authentic self.

I am very passionate about teaching restorative yoga. The physical benefits from an hour long session have been said to be equivalent to 8 hours of sleep. It also helps students get into a state of relaxation which allows the body to restore itself.

I have been teaching for the past few months at Fierce Fitness CLE in North Olmsted and Roots Yoga in Strongsville. I teach a pretty good variety (restorative, basics, and Hot Power). If you are new to yoga I recommend restorative or basics, if you have a few classes under your belt and are ready for a challenge, come to a power class. It will give you a workout!

I'm currently a registered teacher with the yoga alliance and have educational experience in teaching Yin yoga and restorative yoga as well.

I love making a connection with students. I was once in their shoes, just trying something new, not really sure what I was doing. Once I continued my practice I felt more comfortable in a studio. I was always the girl who was eager to try something new and I would try it by myself. That's how I found those teachers that inspired me. I think that personal connection with the teacher is so important.

Frequently asked questions

in a private session I would want to know what they want out the class/lesson. Are the looking for more of a certain style or type of yoga. A lot of people have told me they really want to work out or would prefer gentle stretching.

If my client has any current or past injuries I would like to know about them. I'm not a doctor, and I can't tell you if you should be doing this form of activity. Knowing about this ahead of time can help me teach you in the best way. There are many modifications that can be provided to many of the poses or props that can be used.

As part of our teacher training we had to attend 4 classes per week. At the time I had suffered a running injury, so my activity was limited. I could do yoga so I just modified all the necessary poses. I attended 5-6 classes per week and also tried different styles, with different instructors at different studios. I felt this really gave me a lot of inspiration on what I wanted to teach. I currently have a few educational hours in teaching yin, as well as a couple hours of teaching restorative

It would depend honesty on what the student was needing, travel time and preparation for the class. Normally a flat rate would be suggested. If I were to teach a group class in an private setting, it would be flat rate + a little extra per person.

I had a couple opportunities present themselves to me to take teacher training. I had these ideas that I would teach to all my running friends but I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to do it and what exactly I was going to do. I met with one of my teachers one on one and she discussed her entire curriculum with me, answered all my questions. I knew right then and there this was something I wanted to pursue. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

This is difficult to answer, but I guess I would say all kinds. I've had a few people approach me and tell me that this was their first class or maybe their first in this type of class. I love that!! I love that people are trying something new that might be out of their comfort zone. Everyone is welcome!

I taught a restorative class a few weeks ago for Runners. I very much understand the importance about run recovery, and so passionate about restorative yoga. It's so gentle, relaxing and it allows the body time to recover. I had been wanting to teach this to my friends, but I had difficulty finding a venue or space where I could have access to props. A studio I had been taking classes at offered me the space and time to hold my class. I was so excited. Everyone told me how relaxed they were after. It was a great success!

I would hope that whoever you would hire would be there for you. Not just physically there, but mentally. I think teachers that are overwhelmed and maybe don't allow time for themselves, lose focus and spirit. If someone is creating a class to your needs it should show within the movements. In my experience with some teachers sometimes you can tell when they might not be fully present. Then it shows in the class.

Really the most important question to ask yourself is what do you need? I think sometimes people go into yoga thinking I want to lose weight, I want to be flexible. You can obtain those things, but it takes time. It's not something immediate. For example, you start running for fun and your using weights and starting to shed some weight. Your first instinct sometimes is to find some other high intensity sport so you can lose more weight. At the end of the day though, is that what your body needs? With yoga and my personal experience, I felt so much better taking it down a bunch of notches rather than go go go.
