About
I studied under Anne Vanko Liva and more recently have studied pedagogy under Irina Gorin. Having taught for over 30 years, I help students succeed at playing the piano by teaching them how to make a beautiful sound, learning many styles of pieces, and understanding the music theory of their pieces. Twice a year the students have an opportunity to play in a recital, and once yearly we also attend a concert of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra which features a piano soloist. Some students are able to take part in piano evaluations once a year.
Many studies have shown that those who study music develop the ability to do better in other academic areas as well. Music study is an important part of the well-rounded individual, and is a skill that one can use throughout life. I am a member to the Music Teachers National Association as well as of the local SW Ohio MTNA. I also take part in continuing education through teacher workshops, and have been a participant in music composition classes through which I continue to compose music.
I enjoy the process of finding the way my students will learn the concepts quickly. I enjoy seeing the look of satisfaction on their faces when they really understand how to get the piano to produce the sound that they are after. I enjoy hearing them make beautiful music.
