Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Hi! I observe their movements and range of motion and work with them from where they are. Then establish goals to reach after we work on proper technique.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended a formal certification organization called Try4Life and obtained a 500 hour Registered Yoga Instructor certification. The usual hour is 200 but because I have been practicing Yoga and have studied the philosophy for so long I was able to get the higher status.
I attended several conferences with the best in the Yoga arena and learned their methods and modalities. My tool box is very versatile.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I price for one hour of standard practice of $15.00
some like to go for one 1/2 hours which is really traditional time of a Yoga practice that costs $20.00
I can discount on pre paid sessions, 4 lessons for $45.00
Student will commit to the 4 lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by getting certified in Fitness then decided to get certified in Yoga too. I actually like to mix fitness strength movement into some of the postures in order to help weak areas of the body get stronger.
I have taught in many different environments.
I have been teaching since 2002.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with Seniors, kids, and some disabled.
I have taught beginners and advanced.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently helped a student get up in a head stand when they thought they couldn't and the class acknowledged the person.
It's very empowering to see a person accomplish some of the postures that are challenging. Some I cannot perform but will demonstrate or teach and they will be able to do it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say to meet the teacher hear their methods and use your feeling about the teacher to decide. If their isn't any chemistry between people the classes will not be productive.
All Yoga teachers have a style or niche that they do. A question for the teacher would be what are your favorite things that you like to teach? So that if it is something you don't really want to do alot of, that would not be the teacher to pick.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is it you want to get out of Yoga?
there is sooo much to learn and different things to learn in Yoga. So you have to think if the Spritual end of it is something you care about. If not, then fitness and gym is a better fit. Yoga is threaded and based on life philosophy that teaches a better way to behave and live in tandem with the physical postures.
