Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We offer a complimentary lesson with your prospective music teacher at a time and place convenient to you. We have you sign up online on our website so that we can enter you into the teacher's studio calendar. I make sure the teacher and you are prepared for that first lesson. The teacher will explain studio policies and develop a rapport with the student. I follow up with you after the lesson to listen to your satisfaction level and to set a regular schedule if you choose to continue.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a BM in Vocal Performance and a BME in Music Education. I have taught K-12 and all ages privately. I feel like everything I have been trained to do is being utilized in the role of music studio director and owner.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?
I loved singing in church and listening with my Dad to great classical music.. Musicals, classes, performances and college degrees later I taught in K-12 classrooms and music studios. I became the owner of Encore Music Studios in January 2016.
What types of students have you worked with?
Encore welcomes all ages- young beginners, teens, students auditioning for college, working adults, retirees. Though we are classically trained, we have also worked with those who love numerous genre outside classical- Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Country, Folk, Gospel . . .
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently enjoyed working with a particular student, who is retired, develop more confidence in his singing voice so now he goes regularly to perform in church, retirement communities, nursing homes, etc . . . and had a woman in her nineties, who had been a dance studio owner, get up and dance to his singing!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do you offer recital opportunities? What length of lesson do you recommend? How long should I plan on taking lessons to reach my long-term goals?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Look for great reviews and grades from consumer advocacy companies. Consider the length of time they have been in business. Look for teachers who hold music degrees.
