About
Teaching piano is very enjoyable for me. I love working with children and adults to give them this gift of music. It is a delight to see their growth and understanding and to facilitate their love of music.
I really love getting to know the individual and what their expectations are. I feel that I create a safe comfortable environment for my students and I love to foster their creative innate abilities. I have worked with young children as a teacher for years and I understand different learning styles very well. I use that understanding in my piano teaching. I also love working with adults who either have had piano or want to learn. I feel we're never too old to learn.
I like to give my students a full rounded piano education. I include improvisation and my methods as well as basic technique and theory. I include a wide style of music in my repertoire although I was trained classically.
I majored in music and college taking voice and piano. I then changed my major to early childhood education. That qualified me to teach preschool through fifth grade. In the years that followed I taught in preschool and kindergarten first second third grade. Mostly I taught kindergarten and first grade.
During those years, I would teach piano after school in the afternoon as a part time work. Are usually had 8 to 10 students. For me it has been a gift to work with piano students to watch them grow and enjoy playing the piano.
I went back and got my masters in 2003 and counseling psychology. And after I moved to Eugene, I worked at the Relief Nursery as a early childhood therapist. I have retired and I miss being a service. I have a talent for teaching and listening to people, children and adults. Teaching piano is where I feel that I can bring joy and music to people.
I will forward to meeting and talking with you.
