About
Rated as one of the Best Portland Piano Teachers by Expertise.com Catharina teaches classical piano to pop and improvisation online or in-person to all ages has a fun program for pre-school kids!
Hi, I'm Catharina, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Although I teach the entire syllabus to all ages, I specialize in teaching the little ones how to play the piano and use a variety of props and methods, including stuffed animals, rhythm instruments, and musical games to do this effectively.
I teach ages 3.8-adults and seniors with patience and compassion. Because of my background working with children from pre-school through Highschool as a music teacher, choir director, and concert producer and performing at numerous venues as a professional musician, I understand the importance of creating a friendly, safe, and stimulating learning environment for my students!
I love every one of my students and try my best to bring them to their full potential as skilled pianists while building up their self-confidence in a nurturing atmosphere. I love to praise them for performing at school, talent shows, churches, recitals, at home for their family and friends, or simply playing the piano for their beloved pet! That's what it's all about. Fun, relaxed lessons, with seriously great results! Feel free to see my students perform at https://www.clackamaspianolessons.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/clackamaspianolessons/
I love to see the joy on the faces of my students (especially the little ones) when they accomplish something new during piano lessons and especially during the applause after their Recital performances!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If you contact me, we can set up a time for a friendly first lesson online or in person. You will receive a short policy and schedule and let me know if you would like to take lessons on a monthly basis. There is no sign-up fee and no contract so you may stop at any time. I aim to make it fun and relaxed for the students so they learn at the pace that is comfortable for them. Some students love being challenged while others prefer learning at a slower pace. I teach with compassion and understanding and the results are wonderful!
