About this pro

I love music!  It is a true joy!  And learning music should be a joy as well.

Yes, I teach how to play an instrument.  But we also learn about the instrument, how to understand and compose music,  music appreciation, and how to have fun while working hard.

I have been playing piano and flute for over 35 years.  I have a degree in Education with a minor in music and have been teaching private lessons for over 8 years.

Valerie is a wonderful and talented teacher. I have two kids that have been taking music lessons from her for a few years now. They really love her and are doing great with their music! They don't feel pressured or worried during their lessons because she is easy going and understanding towards the kids. Valerie knows how to keep kids motivated and I really recommend her as a music teacher!

Valerie has been teaching my children for the last 4 1/2 years. They are progressing very nicely and my daughter who is in high school is shining in band and other opportunities she tries out for. My son loves playing the piano and is doing well. Valerie is a very talented and theory oriented teacher. She really pushes students to learn all about music and not just how to play an instrument.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Please contact me through my website or call me directly.

New students should download and read through my studio policies, fill out an information form and a student agreement form.

At our first lesson (or a pre-lesson interview), I find out what a students knows about music and piano or flute, and then go from there with choosing their lesson materials.

I charge an annual music fee and purchase all the books and materials that the student will need, so the parents do not need to worry about a trip to the music store.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education with a minor in Music.

I have been a musician for over 30 years.  Not only playing, but arranging music for our church, weddings, and various ensembles of instruments.

Now, I mostly just play piano and flute for my church and organized music for our Children's Ministry.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Lessons are $20 each for weekly 30 minutes lessons.

There are discounts when paying for a semester in full.

And I also offer discounts for families with 3+ children.

Check out my current schedule on my website.  www.joyfulmusiclessons.weebly.com.
