About

I have been teaching private lessons for over a decade, and my love for bringing music into people's lives is a regular gift unto myself. As a professional musician, I have toured the country playing everything from rock to jazz to blues to hip-hop to classical to indie to electronica. I pride myself on a vast wealth of musical knowledge and the ability to create individualized lessons that allow my students to play the music they want to play.

One of the greatest honors of my job is becoming a part of family's lives. Not only do i get to watch my students' knowledge and abilities increase, I get to see their lives grow and expand. I don't work by just a formulated curriculum; I find out who you are and help direct you down a path that you create.

    Frequently asked questions

My typical process involves first finding where their skill level, if any, is currently at. Then I see what kind of music they enjoy, and what they hope to be able to do on the piano. If they are a blank slate, I give them options on how we can grow and develop.

I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2003 with a major in Philosophy, and minors in Music and Religion. I have played music professionaly for 20 years; all genres, all size venues, all regions of the country,.,

Lessons are $35 for a half hour, $45 for 45 minutes, and $55 for an hour. I also charge a minor travel fee, which varies on your distance from Northeast Portland.

I started teaching after recieving an abundance of requests to do so. After being very involved in local and national music scenes for over a decade, I had people of all ages asking if I could teach them. I finally decided to add to my formal, musical education and work with other teachers to form a framework for lessons and take on students. Now, after nearly a decade of teaching, I have crafted my own personal program that brings joy and knowledge into all my students' lives.

I have worked with students as young as 3, as old as 85, and everyone in between. I've taught older students who've never played a note in their lives, and older students who are trying to rekindle a passion for the piano that they lost years ago.
