About

I love to work with students through transcriptions of songs that you prefer and love. I have found this to be the most effective if we learn the concepts and techniques to play songs you enjoy. I have had over 15 years of musical experience and can get you to a proficient level and have an efficient and effective way to begin to teach yourself.

I really enjoy watching students get to that next level. Music is quite the journey through peaks and lows and its very satisfying to reassure and guide them through the process. I have also been a professional live musician for over 10 years and helping students understand and adapt the concepts I teach into their own playing helps us connect with other musicians. Seeing my students grow their own art and bands is also very enjoyable to see.

Isaac’s lessons somehow made music feel less like homework and more like something I looked forward to. He explains things in a way that actually sticks, and he’s got a great sense of humor too. I learned a lot without ever feeling bored or stressed out.

I hadn’t taken lessons in years, but Isaac made it easy to jump back in. He’s patient, clear, and really listens to what you want to work on. I’ve seen steady progress and enjoy our sessions together.

Isaac is a really supportive and thoughtful teacher. He explains things clearly and makes sure you actually understand what youre doing. I always felt comfortable asking questions, and each lesson felt productive without being overwhelming. He helped me improve a lot while still keeping it enjoyable. Id definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to get better at music and feel more confident.

    Frequently asked questions

The first step is to understand what the goal of taking lessons is. Be it learning a new song, improvement on technique, or how to get started playing. I believe goal setting is very important and understanding what you want out of the instrument and music itself is also important. Or we can just jam, fun is the best way to practice.

I have worked through the suzuki method on classical instruments as well as having multiple bass teachers and teaching styles. I have a jazz studies and performance degree in music as well.

I typically charge $60 for the hour, and $30 for the half hour. But I am willing to find a middle ground with dedicated students if pricing is an issue.
My mother was a 2nd grade teacher and I found that I have a knack for finding methods of translating information. I’ve been a teacher for over 6 years now.
I have worked with students of all different backgrounds. The youngest I’ve taught was 4 years of age and I believe the oldest was in his 70’s. I’ve also had the opportunity to work with different learners and work through a system for them to progress.
I recently had a student recital, I had 6 students perform pieces they’ve been working on. Student recitals are optional of course but a great environment for new and experienced players alike.

Determine what you really want out of lessons before you take lessons. This not only helps your goal process but also helps me understand what you want to learn. If you are simply looking to improve as a player I can help in this area as well.
