Giles Piano Lessons
About
Growing up I could not walk by a piano without playing it. As an adult it has been my great joy in teaching to help students develop their own potential and find the same joy I have in the instrument.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and have taught for many years in many settings, including as adjunct faculty at a university and at a Bible college.
My performance experience is varied from playing for advanced ballet classes, to accompanying soloists singing Christian gospel, Broadway, and classical music. Currently I am playing the organ in one church and piano in another, playing two completely different styles.
My compositions have been sung and recorded by a soloist, performed by a ballet company, and include a musical. And most recently a jazzy little piece for a children's Vacation Bible School.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
There is no such thing as a "typical" new student. My students have ranged in age from 3 to 82. That being said, if the student is just beginning to study the piano and has had no other musical experience, I usually follow a series of instruction books by Faber and Faber.
We meet for one half hour once a week and I expect my students to have their own piano or keyboard at home where they can go over each assignment on a daily basis.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Three things have contributed to my teaching ability: a college education with a major in piano performance, a lot of teaching experience, and a broad range of performance experience.
