As a graduate of Berklee College of Music I have a strong background in not only guitar playing but music theory, harmony, and ear training. I dont just teach guitar, but also the foundational skills to make you a very well rounded musician. I have been gigging professionally for over 10 years and know what it takes to get to get someone to that point. I also take the mechanical elements of playing very seriously. Many of my students have come to me thinking that they lack "talent" when in reality, there is an issue in their posture or hand position,etc. that is holding them back without them even realizing it. I teach all ages and have had students as young as 6 and as old as 70. I'm also comfortable teaching many styles, including Rock, Funk, Jazz, Country, Blues, Fingerstyle, Classical, and Pop. I love seeing people achieve their goals on the instrument. I get really excited when I see people have those "Aha!" moments where something finally clicks. I know how rewarding this instrument can be and I love being able to help people reap those rewards the same way that I have.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to spend the first lesson getting to know the student. I like to find out what their backround is, what style of music they like, how long they've been playing, etc. Then I like to find out what they're goals are. Everyone is different, so based on the goals, I tailor a curriculum for the student. I think it's important to have a plan and structure, so that the student stays motivated and sees consistent growth and success.
