About
My teaching approach: I'm an avid finger picker and songwriter. I've been playing guitar for 25 years and performing for 20. I love music. It's my passion, my livelihood, my religion, and my joy. I'm currently teaching upwards of 30 students a week on guitar, piano, voice, music theory, and songswriting. I have many students under the age of 7 but also several advanced adult students. I teach mostly by ear and through the use of popular songs/songs YOU like. I teach scales, chords, and how they relate and tie into theory. I also teach a sight reading. You will learn the neck of the guitar and be proficient on any fret groups. My influences are: Leonard Cohen, Mississippi John Hurt, Clause Debussy, Mozart, the Beatles, Townes Van Zandt, Dylan, Nick Cave, Beach House, The Clones, Stephen Hiro, the National...more more more. My lessons take place in my studio or your home. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing.
I think music is a microcosom for understanding a lot more about life. Music is about understanding self, psyche, others and the human condition. It builds confidence, creativity, intrapersonal skills. Knowledge is power. I love inspiring and educating others.
