Pittsburgh Guitars
About
Pittsburgh Guitars, based in Pittsburgh, PA, on the Historic South Side, has served players since 1979. The shop buys, sells, and trades vintage, used, and new instruments, with inventory that includes electric and acoustic guitars, basses, amplifiers, pedals, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, and accessories. As an authorized dealer for brands such as Fender, Yamaha, Gretsch, Martin, Rickenbacker, Vox, Boss, Electro-Harmonix, and Höfner, it offers options for beginners to working musicians.
Services include a full-time, on-site guitar repair shop handling restrings, setups, refrets, pickup installs, and structural repairs, plus amplifier repair via store drop-off. Private lessons for guitar, bass, and ukulele are available and currently conducted online. The store also provides curbside pickup and ships within the continental United States.
Founded by Carl Grefenstette, Pittsburgh Guitars was acquired in 2011 by longtime employee John Bechtold, who continues to operate the business with a staff of musicians. The store remains a reliable resource for instruments, maintenance, and guidance for players throughout the region.
