Woods Piano Studio
About
As a student, you will be supported with encouragement, instruction, and the joy of music. Each lesson is designed to create a well-rounded music education, and includes instruction in technique, repertoire, theory, and as time permits, interactive games to strengthen rhythm, note reading, keyboard geography, and more! Lessons are held weekly and are typically 30 minutes long.
My students and their families have shared with me that they have been pleased with their steady progress and enjoy the interactive activities included in their weekly lessons. Because lessons are offered online, students feel more at ease using their own instruments. They also appreciate the lesson notes detailing what was learned and should be practiced during the week.
I have a Bachelor Degree in Music Education, 9+ years of experience as a piano teacher and musician, and a professional set-up that includes an ethernet cable connection, overhead camera above my piano, and copies of all the lesson books to follow along. I send lesson materials in advance of the lesson to allow progress to occur seamlessly.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach children and adults; when I'm working with a child, we warm up and complete technique exercises together. Then, we review and learn new lesson book assignments and extra repertoire (i.e. recital pieces, holiday pieces, etc). Following that, we work on theory, either in a book or with a game. Finally, we finish the lesson with a game or exercise designed to develop creativity and/or artistry.
When I'm working with an adult student, I take on more of a "coach" role; at the first lesson, we discuss the individual student's long-term goals, and develop a plan to accomplish those goals. I choose materials, music, apps, etc that will help my student accomplish their personal goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Pennsylvania Instructional I Certicate in the area of K-12 Music.
