Desiree De Vries Music Studio
About
I feel it's important to be well rounded as a musician so I focus on building the student's strengths, but also incorporate sight reading, ear training, and music theory so that each student has a well rounded foundation.
Every lesson is tailored to each indivual's level and needs. I have 16 years teaching experience and 35 years experience as a musician. I studied at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA and then moved to Austin, TX where I played very actively on stage. Now I am back to my home town and want to share my passion of music with everyone!
I love seeing the looks of accomplishment on my student's faces when they learn a difficult piece they've wanted to or we get them playing a song they've always wanted to play. I love teaching others about music, passing on the tradition so to speak :)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student has zero experience, I will have them come in empty handed and we will go through some strategic exercises so that I can properly place them in the correct level. If they have experience, I will have them bring in old materials and play a thing or two for me, and then I will place them that way. I will take the student through their old books if they weren't finished completely before moving on to new materials.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained at Cornish College of the Arts in performance and at Bellevue College for Music Ed.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $90/month for tuition.
How did you get started teaching?
While I was still studying in College I received a job offer to begin teaching and never looked back!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with 3 year olds all the way up to 78 year olds. Jazz, Classical, Pop, Country, Folk, you name it! I also have years of experience with special needs students.
