I am passionate about helping others clearly define their goals and help them accomplish them! I have been playing guitar for 15 years and have knowledge that I would love to share with anyone who wants to learn!
Previous experience includes lessons focusing on beginner to intermediate players but can help anybody take their next step.
My experience playing has been mostly in church style music but I also played in numerous bands over the years in many different genres.
My favorite part of teaching is when I see an idea, concept, or skill finally click with a student and they "get it". These are the greatest moments and ones I look forward to when teaching!
I also really enjoy seeing the continued growth of a student who really wants to get better. The more motivated the student is, the more I can help them accomplish their goals and become the player they want to be!
Joel is such a positive and patient teacher. I am a low level player and Joel patterned our lessons with my goals in mind but he also provided on point instruction for all areas I need to improve in. Joel was also professional, on time, and quick to respond to questions. We had great virtual sessions and Joel always provided great practice resources in between lessons which always kept me playing until the next lesson. I would highly recommend Joel!
Joel is an amazing guitar instructor. After the first lesson, he will determine your skill level. Once he learns your music goals, he will craft an instructional program to meet those goals which is challenging enough to keep you interested, but within your skill set to not discourage. Joel is by far the best instructor I have ever had.
Joel was a fantastic teacher. I went from never touching a guitar to playing on stage within 8 weeks! Joel was great to teach me at a comfortable pace and was very encouraging whenever I struggled. I am very glad that I took lessons from Joel and would recommend him to anyone looking to learn guitar or to improve their skill set. Thank you Joel for you instruction and knowledge!
The first thing I like to do is get to know who I will be teaching. I want to find out what music they like, what their past experience is, and what they want to learn. Once we define this we set out to create a plan of action! We will create goals that are attainable as well as stretching. I will provide the necessary material to help them accomplish these goals.
I will always be paying attention to what the student is learning and what weak areas may be present or arising. We will make adjustments along the way to continue the progress!
I spent the last 5 years working at a church. One of my responsibilities was to assess where our volunteer musicians were at in their skill level and help them take the necessary steps to grow in their musicianship.
I have worked with guitar players, bassists, drummers, and vocalists.

I developed a beginner guitar course at my previous job. We helped teach students the basics (initial chords, finger placement, tuning, etc). Over the years I have taught in different capacities, both to beginner and intermediate players.
