I love what I do! Helping people meet their goals is my passion. For years I was torn between pursuing professional counseling or music. Vocal coaching has been the marriage of these two interests. I have clients that work full time in the music industry and clients who simply take lessons as a hobby. In all cases, I thrill in watching people learn and develop their skills.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first time we meet with a client is a free consultation/ vocal assessment so you can get an idea of how we can help you reach your goals. We dive into your background, your diet, and your voice to really find out whats going on with your vocal health.
We offer online lessons through Facetime, Skype, and Zoom so you don't even need to leave your home due to the outbreak of Covid-19. After the first free consultation we get clients in our schedule to begin training!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The education, training, and experience out of Jacob Burton Studios is unparalleled. Multiple coaches have performed for artists such as Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus, Rascall Flats, Josh Groban, Darius Rucker, Carrie Underwood, Cece Winans, Kari Jobe, and many more. Every coach has a college degree to back up their experience and understanding of the functionality of the voice.

The rates of the vocal coaches on my team are:
30 min: $60
45 min: $90
60 min: $120
How did you get started teaching?
After years of studying under some of the top vocal coaches in the industry, I was torn between pursuing music or becoming a professional counselor. A lot of my vocal coaches at the time tended to double as therapist in our lessons and I saw a marriage of my two passions: people and music.
What types of students have you worked with?
Jacob has worked with everyone from beginners to Grammy winners (Cece Winans 12x Grammy winner). At Jacob Burton Studios we work with every level of vocalist.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was recently working with a client who never believed he was capabale of singing beyond middle C. After a 45 minute session I had him belting up to men's high C! He was in complete disbelief. Helping singer's discover all that their voice is capable of is my greatest joy.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Speak to them over the phone about their experience. Explain your goals and see if they are capable of helping you meet those goals. Simply having a degree in music does not always mean that an instructor can help you be the singer that you wish to be in your desired genre. Ask questions! :)
