About

I have been teaching people how to play music for over 20 years. My specialties are piano and keyboards. I also teach flute, saxophone and music theory. You can take lessons at my studio or on line.

I have a Masters degree in Music Composition and Theory from the University of Memphis, and I currently conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville.

I currently lead my own jazz trio and have also performed in local RnB, rock, blues, reggae and jam bands.

I truly enjoy teaching people how to play music at any skill level or age. Working on lessons together is almost always an enjoyable experience, and its great to see people make progress on their instrument and then go out there and perform for others. I couldn't imagine myself being this happy in any other line of work.

My daughter and I have been taking piano lessons from Mr.John for almost 2.5 ysars now. He is very patient and does an excellent job of making the lesson easy to understand. He is equally good with kids as well as adults. Highly recommended.

My 10-year old daughter has been taking piano classes with Mr. Sanders for two years now. I enjoy listening to her playing the piano as much as she enjoys learning playing the instrument. And if you are one of those parents who is proud of their childs performance, you would enjoy concerts that Mr. Sanders arranges twice a year for his students.

My 10 year old daughter and 11 year old son have been taking piano lessons for over five year now. Not only have they progressed tremendously during this time, but they also truly enjoy it and cant wait for their next lesson. Mr John is a very experienced music teacher and has great knowledge of child psychology, he knows how to motivate kids, and he quickly picks up on their strengths and weaknesses. In addition, I also take guitar lessons with Mr. John. He has a lot of patients, trust me. I highly recommend him for teaching kids and adults.

Success in playing a musical instrument comes from how much time you are willing to put into playing your instrument outside of the lesson.

Make sure this is something you really enjoy doing. The most successful students are the one's who truly enjoy going home and playing their instrument.
