About
I have been teaching for over 30 years. I love to teach students of all ages. My education is classical in nature and this is how I approach my lessons, but I also mix in current music that is of interest to each particular student. I have also been a church musician for over 40 years. I studied with the Dr. Perkins, Head of the Music Department at Eastern Montana College, now Montana State University, Billings. I have also studied with Dr. Peggy Daugherty, a concert level pianist. I have a Certificate in Piano Pedagogy from Valley City State University in North Dakota..
I love watching students progress and especially the way their face lights up when they accomplish a skill they thought was too hard.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If they are new student, I find out what their goals are. If they are a child, I give them the best base I can for them to learn whatever kind of music might interest them later.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied with 4 different private teachers while growing up. The first was a student at the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, MD. The second was a pastor's wife with a piano degree. Then in college I studied with Dr. Peggy Daughtery who was a concert level pianist who played occasionally with the Portland Symphony Orchestra. Later in college, I studied with Dr. George Perkins, Chair of the Music Dept. at Montana State University. I have also completed a Certificate of Piano Pedagogy from Valley City State University in North Dakota.

How did you get started teaching?
My husband was music director at our church. I was the pianist. Members of the congregation asked me to teach them or their children. That's when I discovered that I love teaching piano.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginners up to early advanced. I prefer students age 7 and up to adult.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just accompanied a clarinetist at Solo & Ensemble which is a judged event. She received the highest score. So fun.
