Frequently asked questions

I spend some time with the student evaluating their prior musical experience. Depending on where they are, I will recommend some materials to begin working through.

I hold a bachelor's degree in music composition from the University of Memphis, and I was trained in music composition, piano performance, music theory, music technology, music history, and many more subjects.

I charge $18 for 30 minutes, and $35 for an hour.

I have been teaching for a number of years, but I got started teaching while I was still in my undergraduate studies at the University of Memphis. I received some students via word of mouth, and I also received some students who were recommended to me by the local Amro store in Memphis Tennessee.

I have worked with ages ranging from young children to elderly adults and skill levels ranging from beginner to intermediate/advanced. I have taught piano, guitar, music composition, and music theory.

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to work with the Theatre department at Union University in Jackson, TN to create the backing tracks for their play, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."

Find a teacher who can teach you both technique on your instrument, as well as music theory, and who will challenge you to grow as a musician. If you are looking to pursue music academically, consider finding a teacher who has academic experience who may be able to help you prepare for it.

Think about where you are in your musical studies and where you are going, and ask your teacher to help you get there.
