About

My teaching approach:

I have been playing for almost 25 years and teaching for the last 8. My overall approach is to make sure playing music is enjoyable for the student. Playing music should be fun, and when it stops being fun it becomes work. My goal as a teacher is to enable my students to teach themselves. I also teach piano, mandolin, banjo, and ukulele.

My influences are:

Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, James Hetfield, Billy Sheehan, Cliff Burton, John Linnell, John Flansburgh, to name a few. My number one influence, however, was my guitar teacher, Joey Faust.

My guitar lessons take place in:

Lessons usually begin with a review of the previous lesson. Assuming the student has practiced the assigned material, the new lesson is then begun. If there is time remaining after the new lesson, we spend the rest of the lesson just jamming.

The ideal student is simply one who is willing to put in the time to practice.
