About this pro

My teaching approach: I have been playing for almost 25 years and teaching for the last 8. My overall approach is to make sure playing music is enjoyable for the student. Playing music should be fun, and when it stops being fun it becomes work. My goal as a teacher is to enable my students to teach themselves. I also teach piano, mandolin, banjo, and ukulele. My influences are: Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Satriani, James Hetfield, Billy Sheehan, Cliff Burton, John Linnell, John Flansburgh, to name a few. My number one influence, however, was my guitar teacher, Joey Faust. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studioGuitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: My home studio in Arlington.Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment SelectionYour first guitar lesson with me might include the following: The first lesson is usually devoted to making sure a student knows how to tune the instrument, and then assessing the student's chord vocabulary.A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Lessons usually begin with a review of the previous lesson. If there is time remaining after the new lesson, we spend the rest of the lesson just jamming. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: The ideal student is simply one who is willing to put in the time to practice.
