About this pro

I am a working musician with 20 years' teaching and performing experience offering acoustic guitar, electric guitar and electric bass lessons for beginners through advanced students of all ages as well as piano for beginners. (I am also available to play solo guitar for events/parties).

I will customize lessons to fit your needs, so whatever your favorite style of music is, I can help! Some areas of instruction might include (according to your personal goals);

Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Pop, Folk/Bluegrass, Flamenco
Chords, Strumming/Fingerpicking techniques
Lead solos/improvisation
Music notation/reading skills
Music Theory (chord/scale relations, Major/minor chord progressions, ear training, songwriting)
Electric bass (reading bass clef and building bass lines over chord sequences)

(I can also help you to prepare for college auditions in Classical Guitar, Jazz performance or Theory)

My studio is in Arlington (I20 and Cooper), but I can be available to teach in your home within a 30 mile radius, if my travel schedule permits. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions!

My background:  I have a Bachelor's in Jazz Guitar and a Master's in Classical Guitar Performance from University of North Texas, and have been teaching privately for about 20 years. I have taught at Tarrant County College and am now teaching at Brookhaven College and North Lake College. I am currently playing electric and acoustic guitar with Revolution 9 (1960's cover band), bass guitar with Darkest Before Dawn (60's/70's classic rock/soft rock/folk/blues), electric/classical guitar with Jazz vocal duo Independently Blue, as well as solo classical guitar cafe/restaurant gigs.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I like to review any prior musical experience the student has had and discuss their personal tastes and goals.
