About
I believe that music lessons should be both fun and challenging. I am not there to crack a whip, I am there to help facilitate learning and and love for music. While I typically stick to a classical approach I like to leave the door open for students to explore other genres of music. Lesson time is just as much the student’s time as it is mine. I encourage challenge without deterring the student from the instrument.
Number one, I love music. While classical music is what I am most familiar with I push myself to try different genres of music. I have played in fiddle bands, rock bands, churches, and avant-garde projects. I enjoy passing my experiences and passions along to other people. I also love to meet different people from different backgrounds. I have met some of the most fascinating and special people during my time as a teacher and performer. I always look forward to lessons and enjoy watching students grow.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before I start lessons I like to ask the student what pushed them towards taking lessons in the first place. I am always surprised by the eclectic answers I have gotten over the years. While I have my typical methods, I always try to work with the student to incorporate their interests into the lessons, even from the get go. Whether the student is a beginner or has playing experience my first step is to get base technique solidified. However, that doesn't mean a student has to follow a strict regimen. I believe that everyone learns differently and my first goal is to find out what motivates them and what their learning style is.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor of arts from the University of Texas in Austin with a focus in music education and a minor in psychology. I also spent two years at the UT strings project, a program designed for students to not only receive private instruction but also receive orchestral experience, theory lessons, and group technique classes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have two payment plans. You can either pay by the lesson, or pay for the month up front and receive a $5 discount on each lesson. 30 minute lessons are $35 per lesson or $120 for the month. 45 minute lessons are $50 per lesson or $180 for the month. 60 minute lessons are $60 per lesson or $220 for the month.
