I have been playing violin for 18 years and viola for 3. I have taken violin Suzuki classes, as well as pedagogy classes from Northwestern University. I am a regular performer at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphonic ensemble, playing both violin and viola. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, focus in violin, from Washington Adventist University. I have taught students as young as five to sixty years old. I love teaching my students the necessity of art and artistic expression through the violin. I strive to instill in my students a growth-mindset, discipline through practice, and passion for music. I believe that optimal progress with the violin is achieved only as a student learns to love the violin and the pieces played. I am willing to adjust to the needs of the students in providing different methods, such as Kodaly and Suzuki. I am mindful of the tension that often accompanies violinist and will strive to instill good technique to avoid any discomfort. I have taken classes in violin pedagogy and am equipped with games which will help instill proper technique and music reading in very young students.
