Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before you begin your free trial, we encourage you to come in for a free introductory lesson. In this lesson, we teach a few fundamantal techniques along with the academy etiquette. After this introductory process, you will be comfortable and ready to get started on your first class!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 20 years experience training and teaching Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. In 2004, I earned my black belt from the legendary Carlos Gracie, Jr. in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have coached students from the hobbyist to Jiu-jitsu world champions and UFC fighters. Whatever your specific goal is, we will devise a plan that best suites your needs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our pricing varies depending upon which program is best suited for your individual goals as well as those of your family. With our free trial you will find out which is best for you.
How did you get started teaching?
My training began in 1997 when a friend of mine rented the first UFC's. After that i was hooked and wanted to learn the art of Jiu-jitsu. I'm so fortunate to have kept with it and today we have one of the most successful schools in the state and I am lucky to have both my father and brother work here on a daily basis.
What types of students have you worked with?
Hobbyist's, competitors, UFC fighters, parents...all types of students :)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be sure that the instructors are both qualified to teach the art and take a genuine interest in you and your goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are some realistic goals that I should set as a beginner level martial artist?
How often should I attend classes in the beginning?
