Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first lesson, I like to find out what you already know about the instrument/subject and what you would like to accomplish. From there I work with you to set up a plan for lessons that will be fun and put you on track to meet your goals and grow you as a musician.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of North Texas with a concentration in saxophone. I have performed in the North Dallas area since 1997 in a variety of groups and venues on saxophone, piano, woodwinds, and voice, as well as keeping a studio of students. In addition to my teaching experience, I have a good deal of experience in performance, recording, songwriting, arranging, and music theory.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates vary depending on the venue (I contract for a few studios in the area as well as doing lessons at my home). Contact me for specifics.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, from grade school to adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher and venue that you like. Music education should be fun! Also find someone who knows what they are doing - experience and skill is important.
