About this pro

Using my extensive performing and education experience, I teach students with passion and intent. Music theory, blues guitar, drumset, jazz bass, and rudimental drumming are just some of what I love to teach.

I love helping people. And I love music. So helping people learn to love music is the best way I can spend my time!

My kid already feels at ease, and motivated. This is a great start.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

We will chat to determine goals, current skill level, and favorite type of music. From there we will make a plan and get to work!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been playing music for 17 years. I've played guitar and bass in jazz, rock, blues, country, marching band, and musical orchestra settings. I have performed with and taught multiple drum corps and indoor percussion groups for the past 6 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Half hour lessons are $25

Hour lessons are $40

How did you get started teaching?

My high school band director hired me after I graduated to teach guitar and bass in my old school district!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students from age 5 to age 25. People with years of experience and people with none! I am always willing to teach anyone I feel qualified to.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for a "culture fit". Make sure the person teaching you doesn't make you feel pressured or awkward. For instance, I run my lessons very organically. We'll chat about stuff, then work on it. Any questions are welcome and there's no such thing as a dumb question. It is my job to teach you! You should be comfortable asking me about things you don't know.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What do you want from lessons? To play songs? Read music? Learn Music Theory? Prepare for music school?

What music inspires you? Rock? Jazz? R&B? Funk?

How much time are you willing to commit? (In and out of lessons) Half hour lessons and 3 half hour practices a week? Hour lessons and 3 hour practices?

Why do you want music lessons?
